Feature

Tell It Your Way

Start a personal story from your own writing, an idea, or a photo. Save passages, return in your own time, and finish stories with optional guidance.

Some memories arrive before the right question does. The kitchen you grew up in. A journey that changed your plans. Something your father said that you still hear in his voice.

Tell It Your Way gives that memory a place to begin. You choose what to write about and add to the story in your own time. You do not need to start at childhood or work through a chapter sequence.

Start with what you remember

Begin with your own writing, choose an optional story idea, or start from one photo. You can upload a photo or choose an eligible photo from your own memoir. A caption can help explain who or what it shows.

You do not need a polished opening. Describe the place, the people, or the moment that comes to mind. A few sentences are enough to begin a passage.

An illustrative starting point

“Every Sunday, Dad made pancakes in the same heavy pan. He always gave the first one to the dog and said it was a quality check.”

This is invented example writing, not a customer story or a product screenshot.

A little guidance, if you want it

Keep writing freely, choose an optional direction prompt, or use a question of your own. You decide what is relevant and which details to add. AI-assisted suggestions have usage limits; using them is not required to tell your story.

The words you save remain your writing. Tell It Your Way’s independent story passages are different from the generated chapter prose in guided Life Story.

Save a passage and return later

Add writing as saved passages and return to the same story when another detail comes back. You can keep more than one story in progress. Give each a title that will help you recognize it later.

Check the save status before leaving. Text you have only typed into the composer is not the same as a passage you have added to the story. If a save fails, keep a copy of your writing and follow the recovery options shown in the workspace.

Finish when the story feels ready

Read the saved passages, check the title, and resolve any writing still in the composer. Finish story creates a finished version in your library.

You can return to a finished story and work on changes. Saving those edits preserves your work; Update story makes them the new finished version. That deliberate step lets you keep working without replacing the finished version before you are ready.

Finishing a story in the library does not automatically include it in a book. Book placement is a separate choice where available. Photo printing is optional and starts off. Existing book downloads do not change when you edit a story.

Which writing approach suits you?

Choose Tell It Your Way when a particular memory, photo, or reflection is ready to be told. Choose guided Life Story when chapter themes and questions would help you explore more of your life.

The approaches can complement each other. They have separate access: annual story access does not include or reopen guided chapter questions, and a guided package does not automatically include Tell It Your Way.

See how both approaches work or compare access options. Your account shows the options available to you before you choose one.

About your independent stories

What is Tell It Your Way?

An independent writing space for the memories you choose. Start with your own writing, an optional idea, or one photo. Add saved passages, return later, and finish each story in your library.

Is it included in my guided Life Story package?

Separate annual access for stories you choose yourself. A guided Life Story package does not include Tell It Your Way annual access. You can use both approaches with their own access. You can hold both types of access. Annual story access does not reopen guided chapter questions.

How much does annual story access cost?

Each annual purchase provides one year. Renewal opens during the final 30 days. Renewing before expiry adds a year to the existing end date; renewing after expiry starts a new year. Review the current offer in your account before payment.

Do I have to use AI guidance?

Write in your own words, with optional AI-assisted suggestions subject to usage limits. You choose which suggestions to use and write the passages yourself.

How does the free trial work?

Eligible active verified accounts can explicitly activate one free trial lasting one calendar month, with no card required. Previous trial, paid, or complimentary Tell It Your Way access can make an account ineligible. Assisted guidance has allowances, including during the trial. Visiting this website does not activate access. At trial expiry, access becomes read/download only, without an additional finishing period. Paid annual access is needed to continue writing. This trial is separate from the guided Life Story Prologue.

What happens after my paid year ends?

After ordinary paid expiry, you have 30 days to finish existing stories and update your book, without starting new stories or requesting new assisted suggestions. Afterward, stories remain readable and previously generated books remain downloadable. Refunds end paid access when processed, without the finishing period. Separate guided access is unaffected.

Can I get a refund for annual access or a renewal?

A full 30-day money-back guarantee from payment applies to the initial Tell It Your Way annual purchase and every renewal, with no minimum or maximum story count. The free trial does not reduce your refund window. An early renewal starts its refund window when payment is made, even if the additional year has not begun. Paid Tell It Your Way access ends when the refund is processed, without the ordinary expiry finishing period. Separate guided Life Story access is unaffected. Email support@learnaboutme.io within 30 days of payment with your order details, or request a refund through the app where available. Requests create support tickets for review; refunds are not automatic. This voluntary guarantee does not limit your statutory cancellation, refund, or other rights.

Does saving an edit change my finished story?

Saving keeps your working changes. Choose Update story when you want those changes to replace the finished version. Resolve any writing still in the composer before finishing or updating.

Can I begin with a photo?

Yes. Start from one uploaded photo or an eligible photo from your own memoir and optionally add a caption. Using a photo to prompt a memory does not automatically select it for printing; photo printing starts off.

Does a finished story automatically go into my book?

No. Finishing keeps a version in your library. Book placement, where available, is a separate choice. A downloaded book is a snapshot and does not change when you edit your writing.

Are saved passages public?

Saving a passage does not publish it publicly. Circle reading, where available, applies to eligible completed content rather than unfinished drafts. Review the sharing options for your account before inviting others.
